Tell me about your cheap, simple wedding please?

DP and I are thinking about getting married. We want it to actually be a fun occasion rather than the borderline torture I've experienced at some weddings!

We don't especially want to elope, mainly as my DC were not invited to their Dad's wedding and felt horribly left out and I don't want to repeat that. Neither of us love being the centre of attention and we don't want any kind of formal sit down meal. If anyone tries to make a speech I will be annoyed!

We got married at a registry office, then went to a country hotel for a meal. No speeches, small restaurant that was ours for the evening (they opened up specially for us) and just our immediate family and a couple of friends. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but it was perfect for us!

We went to the register office then had an afternoon tea with champagne at our house. Food all ordered from m&s. Very simple, very relaxed.

Similar to unicorn. Simple registry office, 12 people including children. ILs did tea and snacks then off to a meal in a small country restaurant in the evening. Was far more enjoyable than my first wedding!
