I'm getting married at some point (newly engaged and details still to be discussed) in the next 2 years. What do you think of this dress? It's a 2nd wedding for both of us, I'm mid 40s, and don't really fancy a big flowy dress. I know you can't comment on how it suits me, but i really want to go for this type of thing. I don't like my upper arms so they're covered but I'm fairly comfortable with the rest of my body.

Looks pretty. If you feel good in it then go for it

bumblebae · 18/08/2018 12:22

I think that will be lovely xxxxx

MrsMozart · 18/08/2018 12:26

It's pretty.

NakedBrainStrollingInManhatten · 18/08/2018 12:29

I love that!

GinUnicorn · 18/08/2018 12:33

I think it’s beautiful

WooYa · 18/08/2018 12:35

I wanted one like this... it's lovely Smile

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 18/08/2018 12:35

Very similar to my dress. I felt amazing in it! This type of dress is so flattering

Wacadu · 18/08/2018 12:37

Thank you. I think that will be the first one I try on Smile

Sorry I like the top but I think the length and flare of the dress is really unflattering. Even the models legs look chunky in this .
Personally I think it would look nicer with either a more fitted skirt shape or maybe if the skirt was a bit longer.

RebeccaCloud9 · 18/08/2018 19:38

I think it looks lovely. But just check the quality of the lace when you see it in real life - it could look very cheap. (Hope it looks fab though!)

Wacadu · 19/08/2018 00:06

SheWoreBlueVelvet I can see why you'd
say that. I'm just trying to avoid a longer skirt though but I'll try anything on.

RebeccaCloud9 Absolutely. I'd hate it to cheapen the dress.

I also think that Debenhams one is over priced because they've put "bridal" in the title.
There are tons of stockists of nice lace dresses. ASOS have a great range, Quiz, Chi Chi London, loads.
This one doesn't have your nice neckline but I thought the shape worked better ; sexier and smarter?

Ask on Style and Beauty too. They have shopping ninjas on that board!

Wacadu · 19/08/2018 10:22

SheWoreBlueVelvet I'm not convinced I have the figure to pull that one off, but it is lovely, thanks.

81Byerley · 19/08/2018 10:30

It's gorgeous!

Belindabauer · 20/08/2018 16:52

It's a beautiful dress.
Try it on edit might look different on.

WildFlower2018 · 20/08/2018 17:33

It's gorgeous, I'd also check out Chi Chi London who make a lot of this style of dress:

www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Flora-Dress.html

For example, that one is half the price of the Dorothy Perkins one but very very similar.

Plussssss, if you wait a month or two, threy might they'll have an end of season sale! Sometimes their dresses can go for £40!

LucyMD · 20/08/2018 17:35

Absolutely gorgeous! Love it! X

MudCity · 20/08/2018 17:39

Lovely, classic style. Beautiful.

toothtruth · 20/08/2018 18:27

I think its lovely. Classic style of wedding dress without being a full blown meringue.

If you want more options: I used BHLDN for my wedding dress and cannot rate them highly enough. They are American but deliver to the UK and it was really quick. I never even tried the dress on, just liked the picture, so I took a bit of a chance ordering it but it was absolutely gorgeous when it arrived. Just needed the straps altering a bit for my shoulders (which I got done locally). I didnt get this one I got a longer style.. but I think this one is very pretty and might be something youd like.

Thanks all for your comments. Wildflower I saw that one but I can't bear anything on my forearms but there are definitely others on there that I like.

toothtruth Thanks, I'll look at that site. Smile

Surprisingly enough Amazon have some lovely bridal dresses too. I'm getting married in 2 years time, will be mid forties and first (and hopefully, only!) wedding for me. I looked there just for inspiration and I'm leaning quite heavily towards www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B49LQNR/?psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&coliid=I22NKBEJK38YCF&tag=mumsnetforum-21&colid=UA3VKUT5RYB Whatever ever you choose I'm sure you'll look beautiful

Wacadu · 28/08/2018 19:19

Wow Gecka that is gorgeous. Thanks for the tip about Amazon.

Eek I would be VERY wary of dresses from China via Amazon or other sites e.g. EBay. Just look on YouTube for examples of the disasters that can be sent when you think you're getting a beautiful dress!

Snoopychildminder · 31/08/2018 20:14

Another vote for Chi Chi although you may have to size up as they are very small around the bust!
