Hi,

Just want some advice please about the attached dress in the pic Grin would it be ok to wear to a wedding or is it encroaching on being too bridesmaidey? I checked with the bride if it was ok to wear lilac/light purple colours and she said it was fine (in her words she said lilac would fit in well with the theme of the wedding and to go for it!)
but I'm more worried about the style than the colour I guess?? I don't want to accidentally upset anyone Blush

Tia for your help Grin Smile

Don’t wear it. Weddings are daywear. That’s not day wear.

Tonicwaterandgin · 12/08/2018 16:14

Its a beautiful dress but I think you may end up looking like you wanted to be a bridesmaid and didn't get asked.

Mumteedum · 12/08/2018 16:14

I think it's too much, sorry

Bombardier25966 · 12/08/2018 16:16

Tacky bridesmaid. No.

TerfsUp · 12/08/2018 16:17

It's not really a wedding guest dress, no.

greendale17 · 12/08/2018 16:17

I agree, it is more suitable for a dinner dance

Knittedfairies · 12/08/2018 16:18

A beautiful dress but OTT for a daytime wedding as a guest, I think.

SomeKnobend · 12/08/2018 16:19

God no! I assumed you meant as the bride! Massive no.

NC4Now · 12/08/2018 16:20

Absolutely not! It’s almost bridal.

Teddy1970 · 12/08/2018 16:23

She probably said lilac is fine but did you describe the dress to her? She might think you're wearing a lilac suit not an evening dress! The dress would be fine if was a black tie/evening wear wedding, but not for a day wedding, no way

hooliodancer · 12/08/2018 16:28

You will look like you wanted to be the bridesmaid. Or even the bride.

There are so many lovely dresses out there, why choose something so bridal? How about a day time maxi dress in a bolder colour?

backaftera2yearbreak · 12/08/2018 16:30

You’ll look like a wanna be bridesmaid!

RavenWings · 12/08/2018 16:32

Way too bridesmaidy.

FlappyFeet · 12/08/2018 16:37

Hell no.

Solasshole · 12/08/2018 16:55

Thanks for the feedback every one, I was originally only invited to the evening do and bought the dress with MIL who said it would be fine just the evening, but now I'm going to the whole wedding so guess I'll have to buy a new dress, bleh! Sad

It's lovely. Wear it with flats tho and dress it down a bit

Solasshole · 12/08/2018 17:08

My other option is to wear a knee length black dress I already own but I'm worried you're not meant to wear black to weddings even though people say its ok these days!! Even though it has large pink flowers on it so isn't all black...?

Forgive me for being so terrible with fashion I just dont want to upset anyone!!

I think with being that length it is a bit much 😬 I'm not a fan of black for weddings, but black with a pattern is probably ok. Do you have a picture?

Solasshole · 12/08/2018 17:20

Very similar to this but in black and flowers instead of blue and flowers Smile

That's lovely.

RavenWings · 12/08/2018 17:22

That's much better, it's a pretty dress. I think people wouldn't view a black dress as harshly as a bridesmaid esque dress, and black with flowers is completely fine!

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/08/2018 17:23

The long dress is not wedding attire.
The short flowery black dress might well be if it is reasonably modest and the flowers are significant.

Solasshole · 12/08/2018 17:28

Phew thank you Blush

Inappropriate. Tarty.

moredoll · 12/08/2018 17:33

Don't wear the long one, it's really inappropriate for a wedding guest (even for evening only, I think). The short one is fine, especially with accessories that pick up the colours of the flowers
