Would you enjoy this wedding?

I’ve consumed a reasonable shit load of vodka so I’m feeling brave.

Just wondering if our wedding set up is okay or too slack.

I’m going to be wearing a black dress from ASOS, dp is wearing a biege suit. We’re getting married on an island where we will be living by then but most of the guests don’t.

Starts at 4pm. Only for about 40 people. Beautiful pub/restaurant. Main meal at 5:30pm, diy hot sandwich bar from 9pm. No dj, or photographer. No speeches or first dance. Drinks pre and post wedding. Drinks on table for main meal and open bar after. No favours as such but there will be a make your own/pick and mix hangover kit table. Mini bus to taxi guests back to hotels. I think my dbro wants to hire a magician for entertainment although I hate them, quite happy for him to do this though.

I’m trying for memorable. Just something for me and dp to start our married life with in a way that’s fitting for us and would treat those nearest and dearest and who travelled to share the day with us.

Would you be bored at this wedding?

All sounds fine. I’d be careful putting painkillers out on a table though. In case any kids are there or in case someone is feeling low.

Sounds fine, but personally as a guest I would miss the speeches. They’re always my favourite part - hearing people talk lovingly and mickeytakingly about people I love!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 12/08/2018 08:29

No to the magician, you don't want that to be the overriding memory!

Gotta have some music and dancing, that's what parties are for!

A black dress and beige suit won't go. You may not want to look traditional but at least look like you're at the same wedding. Why black? Are you trying to be cool?

IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe · 12/08/2018 09:29

Trying to be cool? Grin I embraced my uncoolness many many years ago.

Dress choice is because it’s what I fell in love with. Same with dp’s suit choice. We’re not trying to impress anyone but we want them to enjoy themselves after travelling so far to share it with us.

I like the speeches too. They don’t have to be long and they don’t have to try too hard to be funny. I just like hearing people say ‘I love you’.

Sounds lovely but don’t rule out a DJ - we had similar numbers and had one and he was awesome, got absolutely everyone on to the dance floor.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 12/08/2018 09:44

I agree - all generations of my wedding party dancing was one of the highlights of my night!

Just to say we didn't want to have a professional photographer either, I don't like having my picture taken, but my BIL did them as a gift and I love all our photos, even the more traditional ones that I thought I didn't want.
