How to keep it together during speech!

My speech will have quite a lot of emotion in it, especially about my late mother. How can I hold it together on the big day?

Practice it, a lot. Practice saying it out loud and be aware which bits are most likely to trip you up and take a deep breath before them. But it’s also fine to show emotion for something like this! Good luck Smile

Thanks! I am going to crack on with writing it properly!

I was worried about getting emotional during my wedding (vows on matriculate - I'm a cryer!).

Bit I actually felt weirdly zen - loved every moment of it, but it didn't feel quite real so I didn't have my usual emotions, it that mAkes sense.

And Agree with PP - practice !

I was worried about my wedding as I had lost my father a few years before and was devastated that he wouldn't be there. Even talking about him not being there before hand upset me so I was really panicking. But on the day I found this amazing strength, I've no idea where it came from, and I didn't shed a tear. I knew he would be so cross at me if I did get upset! Trust in yourself that you will be fine and you will.

I’ve found that if I practiced (and cried) a lot then when the real speech came I was absolutely fine.

Real speech is tomorrow and I am yet to finish Writing it up! Argh. Am crying whilst writing it.
