Peak notions - groom has invited the Pope

I’m off to a catholic wedding in a few weeks in the UK, at the same time the Pope will be visiting Ireland. The groom has written to the Vatican asking if the Pope would mind popping over to officiate at the wedding. He wasn’t joking.

Can anyone top this for overly ambitious wedding planning?

I was a teenager in Liverpool when JPII visited and I have vague memories of him doing weddings and ordinations at some of his various stops. However, I'm sure they were planned into his schedule a long time previously and in the same country he was visiting.
