Smallest: 22 in a gorgeous setting just outside of Barcelona - it wasn't actually officially binding and the couple had to do the registry office bit the week after back in the UK.

Largest: Over 250 in a barn with added marquee, the groom's parents both worked in the music biz and knew tons upon tons of people.

Smallest was 11 of us in a registry office and then on for a meal afterwards (that is including B&G)

Not sure about largest. Can't remember being anywhere where there were more than 80 / 90, or possibly 100 for the 'sit down' . I suppose some might have been a bit more for the 'evening' - difficult to tell sometimes when people moving around or sometimes spread over 2 or 3 rooms.

I’m Irish so most weddings including my own are around the 200 mark!
I’ve never been to a small wedding-smallest was probably a wedding abroad with about 50 guests -largest 250

Smallest and most distressing was a rush job (no idea why, she wasn't pg) between two students who met because they happened to live in the same house. I knew them through another housemate I was seeing at the time. Apart from me and the boyfriend of another housemate, the groom's mother and best man were the only guests who didn't also randomly live in that uni accommodation. So, about 10 ppl in all. The groom's mother confessed that she'd always fancied her son's best man, although she'd known him since childhood Hmm The best man's speech was all about the girls that the groom had failed to pull while at college. I doubt they stayed the distance, but I may be wrong...

I've also been to a large wedding of around 200 people, which was lovely.

Smallest was 50, that was mine.

Largest was 250 at Sandhurst. Excessive but stunning and very guest-focussed wedding.

Most have been around the 100-mark.

Smallest 30 people, registry office and lovely meal, then drinks in a local bar, a friend from school marrying her high school boyfriend after a long time together.
Biggest around 750 ( we tried to count the tables and multiply....)was a Sikh wedding of a uni friend. Both probably the best weddings I've been to, the small one was the best though.

LoniceraJaponica · 10/07/2018 07:14

Smallest - mine. We had about 40 guests. We got married in church at 3 pm and walked down the road to the hotel where a buffet was laid on. It was a very informal affair in the days before wedding favours, chair covers and all other types of matchy matchy stuff designed to make weddings more expensive than they need to be. It is our 37th wedding anniversary this week.

Largest - my godmother's It was in a hotel in Bournemouth, and all I can remember of it was that the weather was vile and an older lady got very drunk. I think it was the first time I had seen anyone get drunk. My godmother has just celebrated her 46th wedding anniversary.

Smallest - 16. (Including B&G)

Largest - approx 400, Hindu wedding- there were 2 weekends of events, weekend 1 was the religious ceremonies, weekend 2 was the civil/legal wedding plus a more "standard western" wedding reception and evening disco.

This was perfectly normal for her community, the bride told me her parents were upset they could "only" afford to put in £30k and the B&G /his parents had to cover the other £20k. This was not considered excessive amongst their friends/family.

(It was pretty fabulous!)

HairyToity · 10/07/2018 07:40

Smallest 24. Largest 200.

PurpleMac · 10/07/2018 08:02

Mine were both on the same day! Went to a cousins wedding with 300 for the day (the church was huge and still had people outside) and another 200 expected for the evening.

After the wedding breakfast I went to the reception of a former colleagues wedding where for the day there had been 20 guests, with an additional 30 for the evening.

Much much preferred the smaller one.

BikeRunSki · 10/07/2018 08:05

Largest - 700 (Muslim wedding)
Smallest - about 20, although DM was once a witness at a wedding where the only guests were the 2 witnesses.

beela · 10/07/2018 08:13

DontCallMeCharlotte · 15/07/2018 17:25
