Cheap floristry ideas

So having a super small wedding- as in registry office then home for BBQ and cake with immediate family only.

I only really need bouquets for myself and thank you bouquets for mum and MIL. (And maybe a Deco piece for registry office/home.) So 4 pieces in total.

Am I being a CF if I say it's not for a wedding but for my mum's birthday to not get charged stupid wedding tax prices?

Also could garden centres do the floristry for me instead of an actual florist to keep costs down?

Any other suggestions welcome?

Hiya, if you would like rustic/country style flowers rather than super formal elaborate arrangements you could do them yourself or rope in a friend. For my wedding I visited a local flower wholesaler in advance, it was a fascinating place and the staff there were very happy to chat through what I wanted and make recommendations on what foliage to get (they knew it was for my wedding) then the day before I had buckets off flowers and greenery delivered an my friend put them all together.

Alternatively, absolutely just go to a florist and say you want 4 bouquets. No need to discuss what they are for

I made my bouquet and my MoH bouquet the night before the wedding. I would absolutely say nothing at all about what the flowers are for for the prices if you're having them made up!

I would definitely not use the W word in your scenario. It adds on huge amounts

Myself & bridesmaids mum made my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets & several buttonholes on the morning of our wedding. I ordered & had flowers delivered to the hotel we stayed in ahead of the wedding & took lace & ribbons trims, oasis, wire, clippers etc with us. It took all of half an hour & cost the price of some loose cut flowers. Easily doable 👍🏼
