Me and my partner are getting married next year. We would like a small wedding with about 20 guest( including ourselves) max and a budget of around £2500( low I know!)Trouble is we have no clue how to do this! (E.g what sort of venue do you use for the reception with such a small amount of guests? And what sort of timings did you really day have?)
The the only definate we know is we DO want a church service I think the fees are around £450 but its something we really want. But for the reception/ everything else we are open minded to any suggestions. Please give me your small wedding stories for inspiration! :) thank you!

Try rugby or football clubs they tend to be cheaper.

Have the reception in your house and garden. Order in a buffet, decorate with flowers bought by yourself, have a playlist on a stereo. People were all given jobs, cake, makeup, photos, washing up, bartender etc
If you really want small.you can do it for under 500. I did.

Wedding was in the morning, then everyone drove back to ours. I live in an open plan tiny mid terrace with a tinier patio so not exactly grand but we moved furniture, had white tablecloths etc and flowers everywhere. Some of our wedding decorations are still up in the sitting room after twenty years (on purpose! A decorated candle, and the silk bouqueyt) which I love.

Church service followed by hiring small restaurant for meal or in a private function room in a hotel.

Definitely this, they are super cheap and can be just as beautiful. I went to one recently and it looked incredible. They did a buffet of sandwiches and popped lovely covers on the chairs. Nothing fancy but everyone had a fab time.... possibly due to how cheap the drinks were (about 1/3rd of the price hotel drinks would have been)

Hello! Private room at a nice restaurant? Friends had this, they had room 12-5 (could have had 6- 11 slot but early ceremony). Was great food, they decorated. Win! Then reserve tables at pub or go home or on honeymoon!

Cyberworrier · 24/04/2018 11:55

Ps restaurant obvs more expensive than home but still way under 2.5k!

We had the ceremony , photographs then an Italian meal. It came in at about 2k with 12 guests. Our registry fees were similar to your church fees.

MagicFajita · 24/04/2018 12:00

Just reread your op.

Our timings were simple - 2pm ceremony then photos, meal at 4pm. We were home by 7pm putting the baby in bed.

Your house or a parents house for the reception? Just decorate it as you like and organise a caterer to do the buffet?

We had a small wedding. Hired a room in the local hotel for the ceremony then went to a restaurant for lunch for 20 people. Wedding at 1pm, lunch didn't finish til about 6 then went into the restaurant bar for drinks. Cost about £3k all in

CREAR wedding did our wee wedding (was just us but you can have a small Humber of guests) it is on the east coast and they arrange, flowers, Photographer, piper, food, cake and accommodation. We got married on the beach looking over to Jura (watched by some seals lol).

Yes to the rugby or football clubs, also cricket...ours was at the closest cricket club to the registry office and all they wanted was £80 for the night! Did all own decorations, flowers from Lidl etc. Absolutely everything including dress, suit rings was £2000, main cost being food and some money behind the bar!
