Getting married in converse

I'm getting married in 2 months ... we not big on wedding ceremony / dress/ etc
Just bought very simple white dress from monsoon and I need a shoes ...
As I don't ware heels ... was thinking to get pair of white converse ... for the ceremony
Is it appropriate ? Should my husband to be ware pair ?

What's your thoughts?

My husband and I wore them. We had customised ones with the date on the heel stripe

No, just no. I'm no fashion guru but you'd ruin the look of your dress for ceremony and photos. They'll be fine for later on and dancing.

I wore similar, with a traditional wedding dress. Husband wore a suit and polished shoes.

I'm wearing another type of trainer under my dress in a bright colour (one of our wedding colours)...it's a floor length dress though so not really going to see them unless I lift dress up on purpose. A lot of people I've spoken to think it's a great idea and those already married wish they'd done the same as you're on your feet all day.

There are absolutely people who can carry that sort of thing off but, I think, if you have pause by the idea it's probably not something you can pull off IYSWIM. So I fear it'll probably look a touch too self consciously non-conformist.

I'm all for comfortable flats though. What's your dress like? There are some great options about.

Is your dress floor length? How many people will see your shoes?

I bought gorgeous ivory wedges, because I'm shit in heels. They were really comfy but i hate shoes so as soon as we sat down to eat they came off and didn't go back on until we went outside. Then I took them off again and spent the night bare foot and not 1 person noticed (until I lost my shoes and needed to go outside)

Yy people like ken and flibberty. It's fine and great if one is totally confident with it.

you can get metallic converses too...I have a couple of pairs. Depending on your foot size you might get sparkly ones too

I would go for it, and esp for any preteen type flowergirls instead of frou-frou wedding shoes.

I think it looks awesome. Friend got married yesterday in a gorgeous sparkly 30s style dress with navy converse. On the evening she had a leather jacket (semi outdoors do) and she looked great.
If you want to do it, do it! It’s your wedding and who are others to tell you what you should do!

Why not? It’s your day, if you’re not a heels and meringue dress girl then your monsoon dress and pumps are perfectly fine.

I wore blue suede DM’s for a November wedding. Loved them.

Friend of mine got white patent Doc Martens for her wedding in 1996. They were her "something new." Very practical, she wore them for years after and cried when they were so worn out they became unwearable. She still keeps them, for the memories...

Love the idea of custom Converse! You could get sparkly and colour coordinated laces too?

If converse are your thing then go for it. I am not a big fan so would go for adidas shell toes.

Also I'd say not white. My friend, her husband and their little boy all wore red converse at their wedding. Cute as.

But again if white is your thing. Do it.

I wore trainers under my dress!

If it's your style, go for it. It's your and your partner's day after all.
One of my friends wore Marvel converse under her dress. You couldn't see them, but she showed them to everyone anyway.

Me and my daughter's all wore silver glitter converse. I wore a knee length 50s dress with them and a leather jacket. I loved them, my youngest wears hers all the time and I wear mine when I go out in the evenings or with friends.

Wear what you are comfortable in and what makes you feel good. I felt like a prat in a floor length dress and heels. On your wedding day you want to feel and look amazing.

I say go for it, wear what ever makes you comfortable. I wore purple dr martins with my dress

10-15 years ago this would have been really cool and edgy, now I think it’s a bit passé.

I think it's silly, sorry. I love my converse, but there's a time and a place for them, and a wedding is not it. It's completely understandable that you want to wear flat, comfortable shoes, but there are hundreds of flat bridal shoes that still look beautiful and delicate and appropriate for a formal occasion. Sticking some glitter on trainers doesn't make them not trainers.

Wear them if you want to. No one will mind or care. It’s not unusual I don’t think. Don’t wear them to be quirky and original because it isn’t but do wear them because they are comfortable and you like them.

I think a lot of people don’t look good in high heels because they end up doing a wierd waddling walk.

I wore Converse to my wedding. I can't walk in any "wedding" type shoe. My dress was long though so I could have worn roller skates under it and no one would have noticed. I would try them with your dress and see how they look. My friend got married on a snowy day and wore wellies under her dress.

I wore converse under my dress. The dress was floor length and I knew that if I wore heals my feet would hurt and I'd be in bare feet by the evening do.

I cannot understand how wearing flat shoes under a floor length dress ruins anything?! As an alternative, have a look at Toms - I wore an ivory lace pair and it was honestly the best decision!!

I don’t t usually wear heels. I wish I’d worn Converse to get married in, I ended up taking my shoes off very early in the day. My dress was long, no one knew.

If you normally wear converse then fine but personally I find it just about the least original thing ever and have a little internal when I hear people say they’re doing it.

There are loads of other lovely flat shoes that will look lovely with a wedding dress.
