What does '3 pours of wine' equate to?

Evening all,

The wedding venue we're interested in has a couple of different packages to choose from; one of which includes '3 pours of house wine' per guest.

Does anyone know what this means realistically? A medium glass is usually 175ml, a bottle is 750ml. So I guess 3 pours is around two thirds of a bottle per guest (175 x 3 = 525)? I'll ask the venue when we meet with them but I wondered what others' experiences were?

Most weddings I've been to there's some wine on the table or staff come round asking 'red or white?' and pour individual glasses.

Possibly there's X number of bottles ready for Y total number of guests based on the above maths; and when they're gone they're gone? I know for sure there'll be some tables at ours that will fly through the wine and others' that won't Confused

I went to a wedding last weekend, 8 to a table and 3 bottles of wine put on the table. They were gone by the time the starters were finished...we all had one full glass (self-pouring so probably 250ml easily) and a top up, it didn't feel like nearly enough but maybe we were just on a big drinking table!

I think they're trying to con you into assuming it'll be three glasses, but it won't be. I'd guess one medium glass and two top-ups of around a third of a glass each.

I always thought most venues allowed for 1/2 bottle of wine per person

From what I recall, if it was included in a package the allowance was limited, max 1/3 bottle per head, but if providing it yourself or asking a wine merchant how much to supply, everyone said allow 1/2 bottle per head.

It sounds to me like there won't be anything on the tables and they will come round three times to pour. If anyone hasn't finished and just gets a top up or declines one round, tough! (Happened to me once at a wedding as I thought I should pace myself so declined a round and they never came back again, so annoying!)

You definitely need to ask them though.

That’s very odd wording making me wonder if they’re trying to make it sound more than it is.
We had half a bottle per person and everyone worried it wouldn’t be enough but there was loads left at the end of the meal (unfortunately some people decided to take unopened bottles home so we weren’t left with any at the end
