My wedding dress is an oyster colour, this isn’t the best picture (you’ll just have to trust me it’s beautiful!) but it’s the best non-identifying one that shows up the colour fairly accurately. What colour scheme would you pair with it for bridesmaids dresses etc?

I was originally going to go with purple (I had a Cadbury’s shade in mind) purely because I like it as a colour, but when I look at it alongside the dress in pictures I think it makes my dress look a little mucky rather than oyster! We’re at a stage of planning whereby we could change the colour scheme without it being an issue, but we do need to commit as we need to start buying and ordering things.

Any opinions very welcome!

There are some beautiful oyster colours for bridesmaids in a stronger colour than your dress, would this work?

Daffydil · 02/04/2018 13:49

What colours suit the BMs?

SalsaLala · 02/04/2018 13:54

Hmm that’s something I hadn’t considered Fluffy I’d rather have a colour but that could work.

Daffy I’ve been thinking purple or blue as I know it suits them both, one is light skinned and blonde and the other is asian! But I’m sure there are other colours that would work.

I was thinking more important are the shade of the colour, so soft dusky coloured fabrics such as duck egg blue, dusky pink or lilac, a soft beige or gold, rather than strong colors such a purple or turquoise.

Have a scroll!

I put this 'oyster wedding dress what colour bridesmaids' into google images, some gorgeous colour schemes.

Any of these?

Thanks Blue - none of those dresses look the same shade as mine but I absolutely love that darker blue colour!

The first colours I thought of were a steely blue and a dusty pink- I think they would look gorgeous.

I was going to suggest a dusty lilac if you like purple. I think it needs to be a kind of faded, dusty colour rather than a strong bright shade to go with your dress (which is gorgeous, btw)

Cliveybaby · 02/04/2018 23:57

Grey? Like a much darker shade of your dress?
I don't like grey personally but it's very fashionable at the moment I think

Antique rose colour or a gold (not tacky). Like a Matt gold colour; champagne if you will!!

SalsaLala · 03/04/2018 20:37

Thank you! both steely blue or dusty lilac could work well. I’m not a fan of grey or gold, though I can see how either might work!

You’ve given me some ideas of ones to look at, thank you Smile
