Invitation Question

We're getting married in March 2019 and we sent out our save the dates in January this year after we'd booked the venue.

I was wondering how far in advance we should send out our formal invites?

We are inviting around 100 guests and everyone will probably want to book local accommodation. The venue only has accommodation for 40. We will also be offering a menu choice so this will be sent out with the invites.

Is there any reason not to send them out as soon as possible, once everything is booked and you have all the information that you need to give your guests?

We sent ours out at the start of January our wedding was the end April. So 4 months before.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably send them out once the menus have been finalised then.

I would make sure you have some spare as well though. A lot can happen in a year.
What date do want for RVSP's? I would have thought sending them early with a couple of months to respond will just mean you end up with people next January saying " sorry I'm pregnant" or " just got engaged can I bring...." or " we've moved so can't make it " or whatever.

For our March wedding we sent them first week of jan, if you do it too near Christmas it gets lost in the Christmas mayhem and you don’t really need to give people long to reply as they’ll already know the date from the save the dates
