Those wearing a veil, where did you get it?

Those choosing to wear a veil, where did you get it? And how much did you pay for it?

Heard lots of people advise not to shell out on any from bridal shops as there's lots of replicas from Ebay/Amazon from China for under £30. Can anyone recommend a decent website or shop even?

Keeping my eye out for second handers on Gumtree/Still White. Not on Facebook but understand there's lots of local second hand wedding goods groups on there you can request to join?

Mine was £60 from a bridal shop, although I didn't wear it in the end!

Etsy has some nice ones and a range of prices depending so might be worth checking out too.

What kind of veil are you looking for?

I got mine from this lady (7 years ago). She was cheap and very good - In fact everyone I know bought from her.

My mum made mine - now mine has 10m of handmade silk bobbin lace round the edge, but the actual veil was incredibly easy to make - all you need is a rotary cutter so that the cut is smooth - you can then attach any edging by sewing it on, or glue gun beads/sparkles on.
The tulle is £3.40 a metre from Remnant House, so is incredibly cheap to make, and you can customise it to be just the length/fullness/layering you want

Thanks all, looking for something like this: theweddingveilshop.co.uk/vintage-lace-collection/rose.html but ideally not spend £145 on it...

That's very pretty 😊

If you search lace edge veil on etsy then filter price 0-£50 there's a lot of options on there:

Thanks HeckyPeck! Should have thought of just filtering the price earlier!

From BHS (that dates me!) for about twenty quid.

Think mine was about £280 from bridal shop. Cathedral length. It matched my dress, I had planned to get cheapy one from eBay / similar but my friend ordered one and it was rubbish! It was more than I wanted to pay, but it matched my dress (though not same designer or anything) and I knew it was quality. I also couldn’t be bothered with ordering multiple things online to try and then sending them back- I was a bit wedding’d out at this point though!

BusterTheBulldog · 27/02/2018 14:57

Just dug our emails - it was £150 from bridal shop! Was getting retrospectively annoyed at price!!!

Sittingintheshade · 27/02/2018 14:57

I got my catherdral length veil from Pink Margaret on Facebook, she’d been recommended by people on a wedding forum.
The veil was exactly what I’d specified and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

I got an elbow length veil for £5 from eBay. Was just from a cheap uk seller. Exactly what I wanted. It was three years ago now but there are similar things there still

IHeartHoumous · 27/02/2018 15:29

I hear ya BusterTheBulldog part of me can't be bothered waiting for a cheaply-priced veil to arrive from thousands of miles away only to find it's not as expected (and ends up being £30+ down the drain) when I could just go into a shop and try them all on and be sure of one, even though it'll be £100+.

With my sensible head on, I don't think i've ever been to a wedding, saw a bride wearing a veil and thought "that looks cheap/expensive..." as you're always concentrating on other details, no? Maybe none of them have ever worn cheap veils though!

Just thought - some charity shops have bridal sections/stores. You could see if there are any near you then you'd get to see the veil before buying?
