I think I'm looking for the impossible!

I'm looking for matching bridesmaids dresses; one is aged 12 and one is aged 16. Ivory/cream colour and high street if possible.

It's proving quite tricky! Can anyone help?!

Thanks 🙏

I think you might struggle a bit with this as this a traditional bride’s colour. Have you tried Debenhams, and Monsoon? It may be that you will need to buy actual wedding dresses if you are set on this colour.

mellongoose · 10/02/2018 15:36

The colour is less of an issue as I'm pretty flexible. It's more finding matching dresses for the two different ages. Most dresses to fit a 12 year old only go up to a 13 or 14. 🤪

How tall s the 12 year old? Would they fit into a petite adult dress?

Could you find someone who would make them for you? Are they very different in size, as some 12 year olds are quite mature.
Lots of prom dresses around in shops at the moment which might provide options. Quiz has a lot of long dresses.

RandomMess · 10/02/2018 15:40

How long until the wedding? 12 year old could have a real growth spurt over the next 6 months, perhaps buy small adults and get it taken in/up nearer the time?

GreenTulips · 10/02/2018 15:41

My 12 year old is a bit smaller than your average child but would fit a size 8

Can to find their woman's size?

RatOnnaStick · 10/02/2018 15:41

Talk to a dressmaker about altering an adult dress for her or don't worry about matching and find something complimentary for each of them instead.

xLeanne128 · 10/02/2018 15:43

I'm 24 and a size 8 but with my weight and height it converts me into kiddos wear at age 12 13 xx

MorelloKisses · 10/02/2018 15:43

Or this (ASOS size 4 seems the same size as monsoon age 12, if you believe the size guides)

coast has this blush dress in regular and shorter length starting at size 6.

Lucked · 10/02/2018 15:51

Also this Little mistress dress available in maxi and midi.

petite

regular

The colours look slightly different but I think it is the lighting.

PaperdollCartoon · 10/02/2018 15:52

Get a small adult size, 6 or 8, and have it taken up. You don’t need to buy a specific child size.

Livedandlearned · 10/02/2018 15:54

I have that chichi dress, I wore it for my own wedding, I wore a 10 and it's quite small for size. It's lovely btw

mellongoose · 10/02/2018 16:01

Thanks folks! I've been coming at it all wrong!

I've been trying to find girls dresses that go up to age 16 rather than adult styles that fit a smaller size.

Some of these are lovely!

Try looking for communion dresses - these are white and tend to come in a greater age range than bridesmaid dresses

Eg M&S has styles like this and this that span the age range you are after. Similarly, Debenhams have this John rocha dress

frenchfancy · 10/02/2018 16:11

My 11 yr old DD is into adult size 8 so it does depend on the size of the child. I would definitely buy adult sizes and talk to a dressmaker if needed.

SE13Mummy · 10/02/2018 22:55

It's not high street but David's Bridal has some lovely junior bridesmaid dresses that span this age range. And Monsoon's Storm(?) range is worth a look too.
