Hair or make up

On the big day do you usually get hair or make up done first ? I'm having my hair put up but loosely if that helps., does it even matter i don't know if I'm missing something obvious ..

I had my makeup done first while others had their hair done
Don't know if it makes any difference, just the way the timing worked out for me!

I had hair then makeup

It's usually hair then makeup, although it probably doesn't matter if you're not getting your hair washed.

I had hair first, they were done by the same person though. I had an up-do so I guess one of the benefits of it being done first was it was done straight after being washed and also meant it was out of the way for the makeup part.

Im having make up then hair done and my wife to be is vice versa. We were told not to wash hair on the day as styles hold better if not freshly washed.
