What to wear under the dress

My friend says to go for the full works (she did, suspenders and all), but the lady in the dress shop says to wear something you know and feel comfortable in as you'll be in it all day.
So, what are your views? What did you do? DP/H will have to undo my dress, so whatever I'm wearing underneath is what he'll see

I'd go full works, which doesn't have to be uncomfortable. It will help you feel really dressed up.

If you need tights, wear hold ups rather than stockings and suspenders. How awkward would it be to navigate peeing round your dress and suspenders?! I wore a corset too. It was lovely in the getting ready shots.

The dress is lace up. For the fitting I wore a nude padded strapless bra and high waist control briefs. Wedding shop lady said it was perfect and I would agree that it was comfortable and practical. Just maybe not what I was hoping for.
Am now thinking of a strapless body, but haven't really found anything I like

I wore nothing at all! Had a bra sewn in and it was so tight I didn’t want vpl. I agree to go for comfort, no one will know and it’s a long day to be uncomfortable!

Never been married. But I would wear the correct supportive underwear for the stress and my body shape. Then do the sexy underwear thing when your alone later. Assuming your both into that.

Dress not stress!!

I think comfort is essential on your wedding day.
I wore a pair of white lacy knickers and my garter under my wedding dress ( I didn't need a bra).
Under my reception dress I simply put a matching white lacy bra on (husband had removed garter when we got changed).
I got more dressed up for bedtime. White lacy thong, sexier bra, stockings, heels.
Granted I was 4 and a half months pregnant, but even if not, I wouldn't have gone all out under my dress.

I didn't need a bra or tights so just some nice lacy white pants.

Honestly go for comfort! I also wore a strapless nude bra and Spanx-not sexy at all but comfy and most importantly, enhanced how the dress looked! That was my main underwear criteria - that it made my dress look amazing. My dress was quite clingy though.

You can always change into something nicer when you’ve taken it all off at the end of the night

I'm planning to wear my normal underwear! Missing the point maybe, but I buy stuff that doesn't show lumps and bumps under my clothes and isn't made of horrible sweaty synthetic fabric- I'm still going to want that on my wedding day. I deliberately didn't even consider any strappy or strapless dresses because I find strapless bras hideously uncomfortable.
I am toying with the idea of getting some cotton/silk/bamboo long johns though. Even less sexy than M&S five-packs, but I'm paranoid about getting cold, and the shoes I'm wearing will look much better on bare feet. This may be a bit OTT though, I could just get them to put the hearing on

My dress has an ‘illusion’ back so I need backless and strapless 😱

I wore cream silky knickers and ordinary 10 denier tights. I have small boobs and the dress was structured so that I didn't need a bra.

im wearing nice knickers and thats it! Corset top so no need for bra, and i want to be comfortable as were getting married abroad so dont want more clothes than necessary!! So dress and knickers is it!!

Absolutely go for comfort. Plenty time to whip them off and put on something sexy for later on

I just wore sexy knickers. I’d got all this beautiful underwear but on the day it just didn’t feel right so my friend ran out and got me hold up stockings and I just wore those and the knickers. My dress was corseted and in those days my boobs still had some substance to them. My corset broke (the bones) over the course of the evening which was pretty uncomfortable and my biggest regret (apart from the man I married) was that I didn’t change out of the dress for the last half of the evening.

My fiend who is a seamstress says you definitely get a better line wearing a bra under a lace-up dress, so I think in the end I'm just going to go for a slightly fancier version of what I wore for the fitting
