Speech @ sisters wedding

My sister is getting married (2nd time round) and has asked me to do a short speech at her wedding (approx 10mins). There will be 60 or so guests and it's in a different country. Fortunately she has reassured me that I only need to do it in English and thankfully not have to give it in the local language. Nevertheless, totally feel under pressure! Any hints and tips please?

Keep it fairly short.
Find something to make people laugh (or at least smile) but not cringe.

Find out who else is making speeches / saying what.......
In a traditional wedding, there are things people are 'expected' to say (be it thanking the parents, saying how lovely the attendants look, thanking the caterers, or whatever - you can fill up your whole speech with that sort of thing if yours is the only speech, but don't want to repeat what someone else says.

Write it out a good time in advance, and practice. Then practice again. Practice prijecting your voice. Learn what you want to say so you can "say" ir and not "read" it.

Thank you for your helpful comments. I am one of two "witnesses". I am in touch with the other witness so will check out what she is planning to say....I feel a scene out of bridesmaids coming on!Shock
