Wedding planners

Hey Guys..
Due to the loss of my job and wanting to start something I've always wanted to do, I've just started a course on wedding planning and also applied to get some work experience with a few wedding planners.
Upon finishing my course I'm hoping to go solo, but to get my self known I was going to offer some free wedding planning, or discounted wedding planning. The question is would you employ someone like me to plan your wedding? Would it interest you if someone was offering some free wedding planning? All thought and opinions are gratefully received!

I'm afraid for me and my friends we agree that even a free inexperienced wedding planner wouldn't be an option. It's the most important day of your life and people want the best. Extensive experience is crucial at the very least I think - I wish you all the best

I am an events manager so planning and running weddings is a huge part of my job.
It's not that easy I'm afraid. Taking a course is no where near enough to get you started in this very competitive industry.
As the PP says, it's the most important day in someone's life. Things need to be perfect.
If someone is employing a wedding planner who does not work for a venue then that person needs to have fantastic contacts with florists, venues, churches, accommodation, transport, caterers etc. I work for a venue and so there are already basic connections but I have actively sought out more by attending networking events and wedding fairs. The venue already has a reputation which instantly boosts mine. A few free weddings isn't going to give you the edge I'm afraid.
There are hundreds of start up companies sprouting up all the time and hardly any ever survive.
If this is something you're interested in I would look to work for someone or for a venue rather than going rouge.
You're unheard of so why would a supplier give you discounts or do you favours?

Hey there, I too agree with BubbleButtBarbie people give a second thought before hiring an inexperienced wedding planner even it is free of cost because wedding is the most important day in a person's life and everyone tries to make their wedding day unforgettable.
