Is it common for things to be stolen at weddings?

My auntie had her camera stolen at my wedding, one sister had her iPod with the wedding music stolen at her wedding, the next sister had £300 of money stolen from her wedding cards and finally my youngest sister got married this weekend and had nan's engagement ring and a locket with her picture tied to her bouquet for luck and that has gone missing! None of us are friends with known theifs so I wondered if this is a common ocurrance?

I thought this would be about ashtrays and table centres! I find lots of people find it funny to take these at weddings but generally return them the next morning once sober.

Not stuff of great value though - That's pretty bloody awful, and pretty bloody brazen. I expect given that you're all family that you're inviting a lot of the same people so it's hard to narrow down who it might be.

It's not normal to have things stolen though, no. It's just that someone/some people you have at these things are disgusting thieves.

We think we had money in envelopes stolen from our wedding - we can't be sure they weren't misplaced but generally people are very careful when handing over gifts etc. At the end of the night My husband walked into the gents and found one of my oldest friends going through my purse, I'd obviously not been in there so he had clearly picked it up and taken it in... safe to say we are no longer friends! It's completly marred all memories of the day for me.

I think some people are just chances, don't care how important the event is to others.

Remember that it isn't just guests, there are often staff mingling with guests if the event is being catered for by outside companies. I imagine it would be very easy to nick stuff particularly if guests were drunk and staff were sober.

When I got married 18 years ago my SIL had her handbag stolen. She only had a door key in there but the thief wouldn't have known that at the time. It was a private do so it could have only been staff or guests.

There were lots of staff at my sisters wedding this weekend but also they had so many guests plus all their friends have a plus one which may be new and not worry about seeing bride and groom often / again. It could just be someone was drunk and picked it up and threw it or took it and feels too guilty to own up. But yes it does mar the day. Something like that can ruin your memory of an otherwise perfect day!
