Wedding guest woes

Is it actually possible to have a guest list where no-one gets upset or offended?!

We are having a small wedding - 60 or so guests. No separate daytime/evening guests. As I have a large family, we originally said no cousins. The trouble is, I really like my cousins on my Dad's side and would quite like them there. But not the one's on my Mum's side. And there's no way I can invite one side but not t'other without causing offense. DP says just to invite who I like. But it's not his mother who will be serving up a massive portion of guilt trip at the reception. Yet if don't invite any all, those on my Dad's side will be upset, as will I.

What to do?!

Personally, I'd invite them. It's your wedding and if you're closer to some cousins than others then I think that makes an invitation ok. It would be more awkward if you were picking and choosing within the same side of the family.

Invite them and just deflect any criticism, it's your wedding not anybody else's!

Thanks. That's what I want to do but wasn't sure if I was being unkind.

Invite who you want.
With weddings it's seems no matter how hard you try you still end up offending someone so you may as well please yourself 😃

Invite who you want. And no, it isn't possible not to offend anyone over a guest list!

Ugh cousins. Had the same thing at our wedding. My parents are divorced, not particularly close to the cousins on my dads side so just invited uncle/aunts.

No sooner had invites been received than I get a phone call from my dad asking if one of my cousins could come as he's an only child and so little family on other side etc. So I send out another invite, upset both my other cousins and he didn't even come anyway!

So no, there's no way of doing it without upsetting yourself or someone else. Sorry OP Wine and Flowers
