Is this normal?

So I'm getting married in 12 months time and I can't wait to marry the man I love. We are having a big white wedding and I'm so excited for the day but... I just can't be bothered to plan it all. Everyone keeps asking me about flowers, dress, what are the bridesmaids wearing, how am I having my hair - all the finer details to be honest and I haven't got a clue. I'm generally not the most laid back person, but when it comes to the wedding I am so blazè about it.

I must add we have planned and booked the main things (church venue photographer etc) so I'm thinking that it's just that the venue and florists etc that I have spoken to have said that they need to know finer details about 6 months before the wedding so maybe I'm just procrastinating.

Is/was anyone else like this?

364 days for us. Apart from booking the church and village hall, and buying two (!) wedding dresses, that's all! I just really can't be bothered to get too excited about it yet. I tend to worry about a lot of things, and I don't want to take the sparkle off the day by worrying too much, too soon.

I was like you - not at all bridezilla-like. As long as you get the main things sorted - venue, food, dress, photographer, cake, flowers, guests etc, the fripperies like matchy matchy decorations and favours don't matter.

I did my own make up and had my hair done at a local hairdresser on the day.

If you spend far too much time on little details you will set yourself up for disappointment if it goes wrong.

I got married nearly 35 years ago and had a simple wedding. My parents paid for the wedding (it was pretty much the done thing then) and my mum organised it with input from me. The organisation was pretty much stress free - for me anyway. My mum did panic a little about dress fittings as I was a student at the time and living away from home. She made my dress and needed me there for fittings.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm lucky as my parents are paying for it but all of my family and friends seem more excited than me.

I think I just want to wake up and be married without all the planning involved x
