Getting married in London? I need ideas

All I know is I want a small wedding in London but don't know where to start.

Has anyone got married in London or getting married in London who can give me some ideas?

A friend of a friend went to Kensington roof gardens. I always fancied Claridges...

My friend hired a double decker bus to take guests from the registry office to the reception. It gave them time to get some wedding pics done whilst we had a sight seeing tour.

I got married at a pub in north London. They had a licence so we got married at the pub and had a BBQ and photos in the big garden and dancing after. Friends decorated it all for us. It was amazing. No hire cost they just let us have the whole place for a minimum spend.

The registry office in Marylebone is gorgeous and The Ivy, Scott's and Claridges are beautiful venues.

The George Inn Borough? It's an ancient pub that belongs to the National Trust. A lot of weddings occur there.

Budget is useful. Richmond is nice - park etc for visit and photos. For reasons unknown.... I like Hackney town hall. Ignore what's either side of it, or opposite it. I've seen tones of weddings there. I love wedding photos where it's a place like that and they travel to a venue for a meal/party afterwards. We're Londoners, live and work, and I want my wedding photos showing us travelling across the city from venue to venue like we do every day. Someone I know has some amazing photos of the bridal party on the tube posing (not in rush hour obvs).

I got married in Lauderdale House in Highgate. Beautiful 17th century house in Waterlow Park. Charles II built it for Nell Gwynne and Pepys and Keats used to hang round there.

Budget is quite vague too... Nothing extravagant as want to keep it relaxed and small (20-30 guests) but not basic budget if that makes sense?

Ok for 20-30 guests you're looking more at a restaurant/bar or room in a hotel rather than standard wedding venues. Do you want dancing? Are you foodie? Church or not?

My sister had her reception at a restaurant in Little Venice and arrived by canal boat. That was cool.

(Wedding was at the French church in Leicester Square).

I went to a small wedding at Claridges which used a suite of rooms on the top floor. It was lovely and the staff were mind-bogglingly fantastic.

Friends had a registry weddig followed by sausage and mash at the criterion, which was fab.
Also went to a wedding at london zoo.
And one in a fab gothic place in torrens street islington, but i think that closed down years ago.

I see you can get married on the London Eye, the ceremony occurs during the 30 minute trip.

I know of someone who's getting married at Cannizaro House (on Wimbledon Common) shortly. Lovely venue, very green round about, beautiful and extensive grounds.

London is pretty big though: do you have a preference for area?

We had a church wedding in the city followed by a drinks reception on an old routemaster with mini bottles of champagne with the clip on spouts which took us on a sightseeing tour of London before depositing us at a restaurant near Victoria called bbar. There were 35 of us, which was great as on the bus the grown ups sat downstairs with the vicar and the rowdier element were on the top deck, and also the restaurant, which we had exclusive use of, was perfect for the size of party as the dining area sat us all comfortably and then we had the front bar area for drinks afterwards.

My friends got married in a lovely registry office then onto a city bar for dinner and drinks. The area they had the reception was more for after work drinks so I think it was actually cheaper than if they got married during the week.

You can get married at the Globe Theatre - lovely venue, and not big at all/

I'm getting married at St Pancras station next month - chose it as it's a beautiful historic building and is £500 for the venue (compulsory to have champagne after as it's the Searcy's champagne bar that hold the license). Can't wait Grin
