Rings!!!

So far with wedding planning my OH hasn't had a lot of input, which is fine. We discussed rings briefly the other day he wants gold.....I don't. Can we have different rings??? I can easily talk him in to white gold/platinum but feel like if he wants gold he should be able to have it.

I think you can have what you each want - how often are you going to be putting your hands together to make sure they match each other anyway!? I want a sparkly wedding ring and I'm pretty sure my DP won't want one!

Enjoy shopping!

Ooo sparkles lol.
My other worry is he can have a fairly physical job. I don't want it bending or cutting in to him which is why I was more thinking platinum or maybe titanium.

Have what you like and DH doesn't have to wear his ring when he's working if you're worried about it cutting into him. My DH doesn't have a ring and I didn't wear mine or my engagement ring for 3 years after having children (fingers were swollen during pregnancy so they had to come off and I forgot about them for ages).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 29/10/2015 07:19

Mine is platinum, I don't suit yellow gold at all. DH's is yellow gold, he doesn't suit white metals, we have different skintones. It's not a problem.

If his job means it's likely to get damaged sounds as though he would be safer not wearing it at work anyway.

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/10/2015 07:24

I have yellow gold because I like traditional. In fact mine is only 9c because I didn't like the colour of the the more valuable ones.
DH chose silver because he doesn't like gold, like you. He was considering platinum, but when he saw them in the flesh he didn't think they looked any different.

Good job too as he lost it snorkelling on our honeymoon Grin much cheaper to replace silver!

sooperdooper · 29/10/2015 07:25

Have what you want, there's no need for them to match - my DH doesn't wear a ring (he lost it!) and I wear a variety of different rings day to day, there's no law that says you have to wear a certain thing

Didiusfalco · 29/10/2015 07:30

Of course you should both have what you feel comfortable wearing. I have white gold and dh has yellow gold. The shape of the rings is different too, but we do both have a similar engraving on the inside, which kind of links the two.

If it might be dangerous at work a thin gold band is better as it will snap instead of taking his finger off in an accident. A platinum one wont. But if its that dangerous I suppose he wont wear it day to day.

Charliej86 · 29/10/2015 09:38

He'll wear it no matter the danger. that's not me being bossy, I would rather he didn't, but it's something he feels strongly about. He can't wait to have a tan line from his wedding ring.

It's nice to know people have different colour rings, I've always just thought of the sets I think.

My wedding ring is 22 ct rose gold and DH's is 22 ct yellow gold. They are the same 'D' shape though, but difference widths.

TeamEponine · 17/01/2016 06:57

Ours are totally different, but DH is no longer able to wear his at all due to a problem he has with the tendons in that finger. Mine is platinum and the narrowest you can get. His is chunky palladium.

Charliej86 · 17/01/2016 14:09

I'm having a new issue. I don't know what I want lol. OH has hinted he wants me to have similar to engagement ring but bigger n better. Have convinced him a band is better but I like the idea of bling. I've found a ring I love from Pandora but as its silver been advised to not have silver & white gold together. All the rings I like are classed as eternity rings!
