Have also posted this in Chat but thought I'd get interested parties here as well.

Has anyone got married or gone to a wedding in New York before?

OH and I are thinking of taking the plunge but I'm getting cold feet about taking along 20 guests...

Any experience? SmileX

I know of a couple who got married in Central Park - I wasn't invited but have heard that the wedding was amazing and there are some very cool photos doing the rounds on fb.

Sorry if that isn't much help!

After having spent over a grand going to a friends wedding abroad, I would seriously think about financial pressure on friends/family having to go to NY. However if you're paying for them, I say it would be lovely.

We looked at NYC, although ended up in Vegas. The nice thing about New York is that you can get married in so many spectacular places. Central park, on top of a skyscraper, in a museum etc. There were many lovely humanist ministers in the city who can help you get things sorted out. City Hall is also lovely, although ceremonies only take about 3 minutes! You could then look at booking a private dining room in a nice restaurant. Good luck with it all!
