Can't find a sodding dress!

So my father-in-law to be is terminally ill and we are planning our wedding in a hurry.

We know what we want for everything but the bloody dress.

A minor detail I know, the most important thing is that everyone is there.

But....I would also like to feel nice.

I feel like a massive tit in most wedding/bridesmaid dresses. I can see how they look beautiful on other people but honestly they just don't feel like me.

I have bad skin on my back and I am incredibly self conscious about it. Too the point where I have not exposed my back in front of anyone but my partner for about 5 years.

I have tried on bolero jackets with strapless dresses but that doesn't seem to look right either.

Has anyone else had this problem and found something that works to conceal it? I have tried all the skin remedies under the sun and I honestly think if my back was better I wouldn't feel so ridiculous in a dress.

I have a few months and would appreciate any advice.

Love the Fenn Wright Manson midi and the Chi Chi dress could grow on me.

This is the kind of thing I am thinking.

This is all good food for thought and I am definitely feeling a lot more positive that I will find something. I have to go bath the little one now but thank you so much everyone!

What's your budget?

I love this

tethersend · 11/07/2015 18:56

And this

BikeRunSki · 11/07/2015 19:04

Green, but maybe too short?

My SIL got married in an amazing green taffeta dress. Twas a long, long time ago, but I googled the shop anyway, and they seem to have gone out of business (droopy and brown). I got married in lilac. My sister wore white to both!

Would you consider maxi length?

BikeRunSki · 11/07/2015 19:05

Cheap and a but less formal

Thurlow · 11/07/2015 19:05

That Fenn Wright Manson dress is absolutely beautiful

PregHead1337 · 11/07/2015 19:33

Love the maxi length one BikeRunSki!

I think that is the one!

I am going to order it on pay day and see how it looks on, I will update with pics!

I cannot thank you all enough, I have been losing my mind over this and everything else the family is going through. I am so grateful for the solidarity of mumsnet in times like these!

Hurrah! Does bike win a prize? Grin Hope you like it!

PregHead1337 · 11/07/2015 19:49

The prize of enduring gratitude?!?

Honestly I have a few to choose from now, thanks to all of you, so if it doesn't look right on, I still feel like a tit I will have other options.

By the power of mumsnet!

Hoorah!!!!!!

SmileGrinSmile

Which one - the lace one or t'other one?

PregHead1337 · 11/07/2015 20:17

The lace one. It is very similar to one I had my heart set on a few months back when this wasn't such an urgent situation.

It covers the areas I want covered and will keep me suitably warm. Also the other half has had a look and said he likes it. The dress might not be a surprise but the underwear will!

I am feeling infinitely more relaxed now!

I've had great customer service from phase 8 recently.
If the size you want isn't available on the website, give them a call and they'll track down the right dress for you.
