Over the lasts couple of weeks I have posted messages asking advice for making a wedding cake. Thanks once for all the responses. The cake I made was a four tier. Using a recipe for a maderia cake that I found on the most fantastic website cakesbakesandcookies. I made a lemon, vanilla, chocolate and vanilla. I have baked birthday, Christmas cakes etc. I have never undertaken such a task before and have saved myself a fortune in the process. My son and his new wife were very happy with the end result. In total I probably spent about £90 and that included replacing my hand held mixer as my previous one died from overwork. So anyone who is considering baking a wedding cake, go for it.
