Babysitter problems and attending wedding.

How annoyed would you be if a guest accepted an invite to your no-children wedding and then couldn't attend due to childcare problems?

DH and I are due to go to a wedding of distant family on his side (I've never even met the b & g). I'm having huge problems finding care for the day for my ds8.

I have no family within 6 hours of me. Dsis, lives abroad. My normal go to babysitter is on holiday. A good friend said she'd have him but has just checked her diary and is actually going on holiday that day. I've asked 2 other good friends - one's away and the other is hosting a party for a relative that day. Argh.

I think I may have to not go. How unreasonable is this? They won't understand will they? Feeling really

Well, if you've never even met them then it won't be much skin off their nose if you can 't go... I guess they'll understand. These things happen; you've tried to find an alternative.

When is the wedding? Not this Saturday?

One half of a couple didn't turn up to my wedding on the day (her husband came) because their baby sitting arrangements fell through. They obviously didn't fall through until the night before because we didn't find out until then!

I didn't mind at all, i was glad her husband could come (he was my DH's good friend). These things happen, I was too happy getting married to mind!!!

We had a wedding of a friend recently who got married on a Friday. None of our children were invited including the 2 year old who is at home all day. My mum let us down on babysitting but Dh was a groomsman so he couldn't not go. I had to stay behind. Our friend was sad I couldn't go but fundamentally not that bothered because they were too happy getting wed!

Depends how soon the wedding is. I'd be pissed off if the wedding was this week and you only just realised you didn't have childcare!

I'd just want to know in advance of confirming numbers with the caterer and finalising seating arrangements

If you have exhausted all options then just let the bride know ASAP so she can re fill the spaces or change the seating plan...

Ok thanks. The wedding is the end of May. I would like to go because DH and I don't get out together much. I'll try and few more options and then let them know.

I did have childcare in place withy friend but she's just told me she got her diary wrong.

Good to know I probably won't be won't be moaned at.
