Hi all,

So my friend went and got secretly married just her and her partner. So I have decided that we are going to throw her a surprise hen party! Just need some help on what should I get written on her sash as I can't get bride to be. Ideas please I did have post bride but looking for something more better/fun.

Shot gun Grin

You sure she'll like it? In my experience, people who run off to get married on their own would rather skip all of that bullshittery and nonsense. I personally would have HATED a hen.

FishWithABicycle · 02/09/2014 19:35

oh god please don't. unless she has explicitly said to you "you know the only thing I regret is not having a hen party"

one very valid reason to have got married without inviting everyone is if you are just not the sort of person that enjoys that sort of thing.

I didn't have a hen party and would of absolutely hated it if someone had taken it upon themselves to throw a surprise one. I would probably have gone along with it so as not to cause a scene, but would then have quietly dropped this so-called "friend" who clearly didn't actually know me or care about my own choices.

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 02/09/2014 19:37

I think a surprise post-wedding hen party is a really bad idea, sorry.

MirandaWest · 02/09/2014 19:39

If she doesn't know, and got secretly married I think it's strongly likely she wouldn't want a hen party,

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2014 19:40

I think offering to take her out with her favourite women to her favourite place to eat, with her agreement, would be fabulous, especially with a big bunch of flowers involved.

I wouldn't go for a sash tbh.

Cherylwilko82 · 02/09/2014 20:03

Just so you all know she will love it she told me to organise a hen party but for next year! She was actually gutted about not having a hen do. She only had a secret wedding as she didn't want the whole wedding day palaver she wanted something quite and romantic!

Any chance she's pregnant? Boozy hen do might not be ideal.

Floggingmolly · 02/09/2014 20:14

She told you she wants a hen party next year? Confused. A year after the wedding???

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 02/09/2014 20:16

Why would she ask you to arrange a hen party for next year?

I'd guess she's either pregnant or is hoping that by next year you'll forget about the whole hen party idea.

ohbladee · 02/09/2014 20:16

If she said she wants it next year why do you think she'll be thrilled you've ignored her and arranged it early?

Lightheartedindeed · 02/09/2014 20:20

If you are sure she will love it then it's a great idea. I would get 'Mrs Surname' put on a sash

Cherylwilko82 · 02/09/2014 20:23

Sorry but I'm taking this off I asked for help. I know my friend I have known her for a long time. We where talking about arranging a hen do next year as we have a lot going on so said we'd do it later which would probs fall next year! She isn't pregnant and knows we are going out to celebrate. She WILL love it as it's her cup of tea!

So please drop with the assumptions I just asked if someone could help with a name for sash something I know as I m her close friend would like!

Cherylwilko82 · 02/09/2014 20:29

I like that ohbladee thank you.

If you're sure she's up for it, call it something like a 'better late than never launch party' and go with the suggested Just Married theme on the night.

travailtotravel · 02/09/2014 20:38

Ha ha - I like Launch Party!

Cherylwilko82 · 02/09/2014 20:40

Also love that thanks auntiestella
