How to make the bouquet handle thicker?

I've put together bouquets for me and my three bridesmaids, plus my niece who is a flower girl but registry office doesn't allow stuff to be scattered(fair enough).

Mine has brooches in and is bigger so of course the handle is just the right size for holding(once it's covered in ribbon).

The other however are too small, as there are less 'stems'. How can I make them a bit thicker before I wrap the ribbon round? I saw a tutorial that used a kitchen roll holder once but just tried that and it was too big!

Any ideas?Confused

How about wrapping some cardboard around it before the ribbon?

Smarties tube? Or wrap some tissue paper around before you do the ribbon.
