Evening reception gifts

I've been invited to a colleague's evening reception. I have already contributed to the office gift. Do you think I should also buy a gift to take to the reception?

I wouldn't, unless you know them really well as a friend.

I think you should, just a token thing to wish them well as it feels bad form to attend empty handed.

For me it would depend how much you contributed to the office present - if it was only a couple of quid then I would buy a gift/put money in a card.

Thanks for your views - think I will get a personal card and a token gift - maybe something like a pretty picture frame for a wedding photo or something fun/silly like A pair of Mugs with fun titles

In your shoes I'd probably take a bottle of prosecco or a rose bush for their garden, probably spending a tenner or so.

Nothing mega expensive, just a token personal gift.
