considering cancelling the reception...

We are having a small registry wedding in September (15 guests) then plan to head back to my mums for drinks/food. Reception was supposed to be next day, again nothing fancy 60 guests, DJ, buffet in local social club.

The problem is our 16month old barely sleeps and is rediculously clingy with me so I'm not sure it'd be any fun for us. MIL has offered to babysit but it would mean DD screaming for hours until we got back and that just doesn't seem fair.

Would it be daft to cancel the reception and maybe do something for our first anniversary instead or would you go ahead with original plans?

It's supposed to be your day, so why not move it to when you'll be able to enjoy it and actually chat to your guests. However, if people have already booked train tickets or flights, you might have a problem.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

a 16 month old can change a lot in a few months, especially if you make a point of enforcing routines etc. The clingy phase will pass and you have a good long time to help get her out of it by then. You'll be surprised by how easy it is to get her used to other people if you try, and you have a good goal to achieve it for
