Personal touches

What little touches have you included in your wedding planning to make sure your day reflects you and your htb? I'm worried ours will be a bit 'samey'

I honestly think that sometimes brides worry too much about putting lots of little details in - your guests are unlikely to notice, and if they do, they are generally not things that they would miss, if they weren't there.
The best weddings are those where it's not too much of a 'show' but everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves, IMO

Agree with BackforGood. The little touches can take up a lot of time. And I think are really more for the bride and groom rather than the guests.

Each wedding is different, as guests and venues and weather and of course, bride and groom are different!

We didn't do a lot - my dm was driven crazy at my laid back attitude to my wedding! That said we did a few things: superhero table names and place cards, a sweetie table and my gran did coconut ice for favours. The men in the close family wore superhero badge cuff links too and we had a batman incorporated into the back of the wedding cake. This was done for my DH and the kids at the wedding!

Our wedding is next month, and I think a fair few of our 'personal' touches came out of saving money! We're giving kinder eggs as favours, which were less than 50p each including decoration, but as DP proposed in a kinder egg that's really personal, and I'm arriving in my parents VW camper, although so many people hire them now it won't exactly be different!

Agree with the above, there was loads of other 'little touches' that i had ideas about, but would have ended up spending silly money (the little stuff adds up so fast!) on stuff that guests probably wouldn't even have noticed, so I have drawn myself a line!

It's all about the personal touches and little touches, that's what changes an event from bog standard boring to something to remember.

It's the detail that counts and stops a wedding being samey, just like it is the detail that counts in making a house into a home.

For us personally, our wedding is in a big old mill, but we have to do it all ourselves, we are just hiring the space as a blank canas, so everything is personal to us and reflects DP and my taste, rather than some 'package'.

We are decorating it in bunting that I made years ago for a wedding and a 40th birthday party, most of our friends know the bunting as we use it at every party.

We both love colour so there are splashes of colour everywhere.

We love music, DP has built a jukebox for the wedding with all our favourite songs on it, and the music we are using for the ceremony is obviously meaningful to us.

The food is basically all of our favourite food, not just a menu choice.

There are lots of things that I or DP have made ourselves, because we are always making things and all our guests know this and wouldn't expect anything less.

We haven't stressed about it though. We haven' t done anything just because that is what people do at weddings. It's meant to be fun, not stressful!

Music and readings are lovely ways to personalise. Table names. Speeches often are the most personal touches.

You're all right, the most personal (and important) bit is that it's us and our friends thank you

Yes nobody is bothered about jam jar favours etc. Free alcohol and great music make a great wedding.

A lot of our guests were really chuffed that we'd made sure there was a least one photo of everyone who attended. They were prints from the machine at Max Spielman and were hung up in the windows.

I think it made everyone feel included and less about us

And it was cheap

We asked all the guests to
RSVP with their three favourite songs. The music that was played at the reception was entirely made up of the guests choices. We put all the songs on a 100 discs and printed our fave picture of us - bear with me, I know this is cheesey - on the discs and handed these out as wedding favours. We called it the Wedding Album

We had great feedback from the guests, and as the album is like 5 hours long, it takes ages to get through and guests are still reporting back that they love listening to it. It cost about 30 quid in total.
