Help me plan?!

I have this thread running in Chat too as I didnt realise there was a specific wedding topic!

We have very provisionally set a date and have reserved it at the ceremony venue but not paid deposit yet - thats it! What else am I supposed to be doing?!

Also, I'm not sure about timings/plan for the day, does this sound ok?

2pm - ceremony
3pm(? How long do ceremonies last?!) - pictures whilst guests have afternoon tea and music/wonder round park
4pm - arrive at reception venue, do drinks/speeches/quiet mingling/jazz singer
5pm - Have food (don't want a formal 'sit-down meal' so thinking of getting some stalls from the local food market?)
7/8pm-ish - More funky music/disco time?

Not really sure as you can see!

We will have some children there (including our own) so we'll set the venue up to have a main room with musc/disco, a childrens room with bouncy castle etc and a quieter area with comfier chairs so people can talk if wanted?

Don't want a big pompous day, just want everyone fed/watered and able to dance/relax/socialise as they want but scared its a bit 'nothing' after the ceremony without a sit-down meal, any thoughts?

I think it sounds fun actually! A wedding is ujst a big party, and the best parties aren't always the ones with sit down meals are they?

Love the idea of food stalls for the food!

When are you going to have your photo's taken? If you've having a church wedding they usually take about an hour, if its a civil ceremony on site or at a registry office they can take anywhere from 15 mins or 30 mins depending on if you have readings.
Photo's however can take quite a long time to take... finding people, getting them into position, a quick change over, more snaps, someone gets sent off to find great aunt mabel who's already had 3 sherries, the obligatory toddler is having a tantrum and needs to be changed... etc.
Photos really are the big time eater at weddings, they take approx 3 mins per photo, so think in advance how many you need, make a list, and always plan in more time for things than you think is needed as there is always late comers.
Remember caterers can bring food forward in time tables, but don't like delaying things from the agreed time as it will spoil the food.
