Nickname during ceremony

I have a question for all you wedding experts. I have never been called the name that was given to me on my birth certificate. The name on my birth certificate is the english version of my nickname.
Do any of you know if during my vows I can be called by my nickname. The thought of being called by my 'proper' name seems a little strange.
Thanks

I went to a wedding where the bride always called the groom by a shortened name (eg Tom) but groom wanted to refer himself as his full name (eg Thomas). The vicar explained this at the beginning of the vows and she said 'I take you Tom' and he said I Thomas take you etc... & vicar said it was all fine to do that.
Not sure about nicknames legally.
