So for bouquets/buttonholes - have you gone for real or artificial?

How much did you pay?

I'm looking at various options but they all seem ridiculously expensive! So wondering what others do.

We met our florists on Thursday, we have gone for real flowers, not sure why really, just never thought of artificial ones and I do like the smell of real ones!

I think my bouquet is £70, bridesmaid bouquets £35, button holes £3 each (we are only getting buttonholes for father of the bride, grooms dad, bestman, 2 ushers and our 2.5 year ds.

We are also having flowers in the church and at the reception.

Flowers are expensive but for my dp nan's funeral, my to be sister in law went to the flower market, bought some flowers wholesale and looked on youtube how to make 'nan' wreaths etc. they looked lovely and saved us a fortune.
Maybe you could try that?

I made all the bouquets/table vases/buttonholes for my daughters wedding. never done this before, go to youtube and watch the videos.
I did a practice bouquet, then she bought the flowers from the flower market. 120 pounds for all the flowers.

we had real flowers, and for the groom it was £10, ushers and dads were £8 each, and mums/mil 'buttonieres' were £10 each. Pricey but i was so pleased with the end result and was pleased i went with that option.

Hobbycraft ones for about £1. You'd think they'd be shit for that price but they look fine.

My Mum made ours - she'd never done it before and was no florist / flower arranger / arty-crafty type but it's not that tricky really (and this was before You-Tube was invented).

I've contacted our local college who have a floristry department, im waiting for a quote from them for fresh. If they're too expensive I'll go for paper and learn how to make them!

I'm buying wholesale flowers that are in season and then making my own bouquet and buttonholes.

I have found a wholesalers online that will deliver to you, so I won't have to wrry about getting to a flower market right before the wedding.

Flowers are expensive. This was one thing my DH and I argued about! We used real flowers for bouquets and buttonholes. I got married three years ago so prices should still be similar. The total cost for our flowers was £800. Totally crazy in retrospect! DH could not understand how they could possibly cost so much. We had loads though and our florist was amazing in terms of moving all the flowers from the church to the reception venue. I can't remember exactly how much the bouquets were but the buttonholes were £7.50 each. I was recently bridesmaid for a friend who went to a flower market the day before her wedding to buy the flowers (costing about £200) and they looked fab. I think that's the way to go...

Also I made a bouquet with foam flowers from hobbycraft and it looked lovely - we're keeping it to stick on the wall (I did it on one of those cutesy wicker hearts, so not just a random bouquet on its own!) Cost about £13.50 but it was smallish.

We live in London and went to Covent garden flower market, you have to get there at about 4am but it amazing, I did them myself with a bit of help from online and a lot if floristry tape, I did about 9 button holes 3 bridesmaids, me and 2 huge church displays, all the tables for under £70 I was shocked at how cheap and easy it was. I also really enjoyed it, kept me calm pre wedding!

I was going to say I chose flowers I thought would be easy to work with, also if you get them wholesale they are very fresh so easily lasted a few days and they were very honest about which ones would last or not.

I had real flowers and used a local florist.

My bouquet
3 x adult bridesmaid
1 x toddler bridesmaid
5 x corsage
8 x buttonholes
24 x milk bottles filled with gypsophila

That cost £240 altogether so not too bad IMO.
