we were getting married jan 2015, big wedding, everything booked/deposits paid. However, due to serious health problems within the family, we have deceided to bring it forward to early 2014. However, we will have to scale back considerably as we wont have saved enough to have the big do we had planned, as we thought we would have the year to save. So we plan to have a small ceramony with close family only, but therin lies the dilemma. Who constitutes close family, and are live in partners of close family included. Personally, i feel they should be, but DP isnt so sure. Has anyone faced this dilemma. How does one prioritise.

If you are not getting married in church, what is the capacity of the room you're having the ceremony in? When we got married, the place we had out ceremony would only legally hold 35 people. Our wedding party and immediate family (parents, brothers/sisters) brought us to 12.

Yes, live in partners of close family have to be included if the close family are.

TBH I would view live-in partners of close family to be close family as well!

Close family are those members of your family who you are immediately related to, and other family members who you get on well with, see regularly and are a significant person in your life.

The cousin who lives in Australia who you haven't seen since you were a child, who you never contact, is not close family, but the cousin who lived down the road who is like a sister to you who you see all the time is.
