purple sweets for favours

Our wedding colour is purple. We're on a tight budget and one of the things we're doing ourselves is making our own favours. We've decided on small jars of sweets. OH wants old/traditional style sweets but its hard finding ANY sweets that are purple. I suggested a mixture of coloured sweets purples, whites or creams. I looked at the personalised M&Ms (not traditional but lovely colours!) £140 to fill 25 tiny jars!!
Any suggestions for purple themed sweets?

You can get the purple quality street on their own.

Cohenite · 31/10/2013 20:51

Try eBay, lots of wedding favours including sweets. I thought of Parma Violets too.

what a lovely idea, you could use old baby food jars :) Parma violets, blackcurrant and liquorice, you can buy single, big versions of the purple sweets from the quality street range too .... hungry for sweets now Wink

timidviper · 31/10/2013 20:53

You can get Parma Violets in mini or giant sizes

If you put purple sweets into Google you get loads

If you put purple sweets in the search bar on amazon they have some purple wedding sweets with bride and groom on there. They are less than £20 for 100. They also have purple foil covered hearts.

Thanks again everyone!

Buy plain white sugared almonds and some food dye..worked well for ours - had a red and gold colour scheme...

Hiphopopotamus · 31/10/2013 21:07

Can they be in wrappers? If so, maybe the purple ones from Quality St?

stopthenoise · 31/10/2013 21:42

Madeofstardust that's a great idea, we could have purple and white.

Hiphop yes can be wrapped sweets, we were thinking of getting the big purple ones with name places tied around them.

Can you still get those teeny tiny Dairy Milk bars, like the ones you used to buy to put in the toy Cadbury vending machine? They'd be perfect. Love the idea of big purple one name tags too.

MirandaWest · 31/10/2013 21:54

Purple sugared almonds. And Parma violets. And the big purple Quality Street (or is it Roses?)

ZingWantsGin · 09/11/2013 14:58

can you just buy any sweets and re-wrap them I purple foil, for the look?

and I can see your lazer look blasting me into pieces for suggesting this but is there any chance you could make them? it's not difficult.
or get someone to make them for you?
there are books on candy making - check online for recipes.
