When to send out invites?

I am pretty laid back and although I have recieved my invites from printer I haven't thought about sending them out yet, I was thinking of sending them the week before christmas with my christmas cards but today a customer came to my work and was flapping as hers need to be sent out asap as its so late.
Her wedding is in June....mine is in March, I am now all worried that I should be sending mine out, only one of my friends have got married and sent them 6 weeks before so I am clueless, when do zi send them?

I think with Christmas cards is perfect.

Would ring anyone who you'd be distraught if they missed it and get them to pop it in their diaries now, however.

6-8 weeks is normal and absolutely fine.

If there are people you think need to be tipped off about the date before that, then just mention it in your next ordinary communication with them.

Excellent thank you for the replies, I have told my two members of family who live away so they could book hotels in advance.
I work where people come for bits for their wedding and they seem to get them sent out very early, I was having a panic.
