My friend is getting married and Wants a more relaxed day, she was thinking roughly:

Timings of the day

3:30 - 4 ceremony
4-4:30 - drinks and photos
4:30 - 7 afternoon tea garden party type thing and speeches
Food so far - salmon and cuecumber sandwiches
Ham and cuecumber sandwiches
Cheese and cuecumber sandwiches
Scones, jam, cream
Victoria sponge made with fresh strawberries and cream
Chocolate brownies
Bowls of fresh strawberries and raspberries

Any more ideas for savoury? She is struggling to find things to keep in the theme!

7 - 11 evening reception (disco type thing)
First dance at 7
Cut cake at 10pm
Substantial canapés going around 8-10, things like mini burgers, samosas etc. but we need more ideas please!
There will be a lot of canapés so no one goes hungry!

There will also be an ice cream van!

There will be a kids table all day with activities

All guests will be all day.

Does this sound ok? Any ideas for the food?

Thank you!

We had an afternoon tea as our main wedding meal. The sandwiches we had were: -
duck egg mayonnaise
Parma ham & mustard mayonnaise
smoked salmon and cucumber
roast beef with horseradish and rocket.
There were some extra veggie ones, but I can't remember what they were. I wouldn't put cucumber in all the sandwiches, try for a bit more variety!

There will be somewhere for guests to sit to eat all this, won't there? Doesn't have to be a formal table layout but plenty of people won't be happy if they have to stand around eating for ages.

For the evening, what about bacon rolls, mini fish & chips, a cheese tower?

It does all sound lovely.

I don't think you need more savoury for the tea party, but perhaps change the salmon and cucumber sandwiches to salmon and cream cheese bagels? You can get mini bagels, might just add a different element rather than all the same sandwiches.

Cheese is a good thing to have with all the canapes later on too, and maybe other protein-based canapes after all the carbs in the afternoon tea, like mini chicken skewers, mini lamb kebabs, falafel, goats cheese and red onion tarts...
