I'm driving myself nuts!

DP and I get married in December and I can not find a wedding dress that I think will look okay on me. I'm a size 20 and 5'3. I do not want strapless, it would look like i was smuggling raw gammons into the venue, but in my day to day life I don't really wear dresses so have no idea what to go for. I will be having a bridal cloak (like the Scottish Widows one, but ivory) so that will cover some sins but other than that...

Please help! I quite like this but I worry it will look ridiculous. I also don't have a huge budget. £400 is about the maximum I'm willing to spend on a dress I'll wear once. Any ideas?

I'm not sure where you are based in the country but I went to a place called Heavenly Bodies Bridal just outside London and had the best experience. Ended up with a La Sposa sample at a bargain price and felt amazing on the day. Enjoy looking and you will look stunning!

My friend got hers from a plus size wedding dress shop in Yorkshire. She looked absolutely stunning.

If yours anywhere near I'll find out the name for you.

But I can assure you there was no gammon smuggling issues at all! (She's a size 24.) It fit like a glove and she looked and felt beautiful.

I'm based in the north east so could definitely get to Yorkshire, if you wouldn't mind finding out the name for me Randall, I'd be very grateful!

Mind you, Missfrump, I may consider travelling to London in a bid not to look like a badly wrapped parcel!

I'll ask now for you!

It was apparently "Curvy bridal in bourobridge in Yorkshire".

There is also an amazing shop in West Workshire

If you can try on dresses from the Veromia Sonsie range. It is designed for larger ladies and the support in the dresses is incredible. I wore one on my wedding day 2.5 weeks ago and it gave me a beautiful shape. My dress had lace cap sleeves but they also do dresses with long sleeves.

Cup cake has the same dress as me by the sounds of it! It is lush! Hope you had an amazing day.
the sonsie range is brilliant especially if you are busty. Callista is another plus size range to look out for.
i went to embrace bridal near Peterborough, it is a specialist 16 plus shop. They were so helpful.

Sounds like we do have the same dress. It was gorgeous and really easy to wear!

Monsoon do dresses up to size 24. I'm a 22 and my dress is beautiful!

I ended up buying from somewhere called Bridal Outlet in Northallerton. The staff were amazingly helpful and I ended up with something I'd never have chosen by myself that looks amazing.
