How would you word this?

For lots of reasons, we're having a small wedding with just very close friends and immediate family. about 50 people in total.

However, we both have big families, old school friends etc who we are sporadically in touch with, but not terribly close to. I'm thinking about sending an after-the-wedding type announcement to let people know we're married (and I think my DM and DMIL think it is the 'right' thing to do!).

Has anybody done this and how did you word your announcement?

Get one of the wedding pics made into post cards and send them out with 'we did it' on the back and how you want to be addressed, Mrs, Ms your name/hisname

Hmmm tbh I think that's an odd thing to do.

Why can't you just tell them via email : text / Xmas card!

I think I'd worry they would think I was fishing for a gift. If they're not close enough to invite to your wedding, then just mentioning it next time you meet up/email would be fine.

Mention it the next time you are in touch with them anyhow.

OK, that may mean Christmas card, but they'll probably find out through the grapevine anyhow.

Just do what normal people do and stick a wedding photo on facebook.

I like the idea of a postcard and photo. Absolutely not fishing for a gift so take on board that's what it might sound like.....

Probably need to ponder a bit more.

I would like the postcard and photo myself. I love those kind of things and keep them. But I'm sure someone, somewhere would find a way to get offended I'm afraid.
