how did you guys 'quirk' up your wedding?

I have the venue sorted.......a lovely farm with big converted mills for accommodation and A restored barn for the ceremony and evening do. Food is going to be hog roast and tapas (fusion of the two families) all quite rusticy and relaxed. Both have huuuuge families so over 200 people for the food and ceremony. Little favours will be home grown multicoloured chilli plants in tiny buckets with luggage tag as place card. Basically just wondering what you guys did to quirk up your weddings? Little funky ideas/decorations/extras etc... Would love to create a few things like a photo booth and a big comfy bean bag corner for tired kiddies. Any ideas/experiences people?

Take your pick - ice cream tricycle/sweet cart or a Pimms tricycle!

We have face painting, massive adult size bouncy castle, loads of garden games, tombola, guess name of the teddy, fish chips & ice cream vans (all free). Self serve punch buckets. Printed out a huge 8ft high tree silhouette, printing out pics of our family to stick on it, on the wall behind top table.

Pony rides for the kids. Free booze all day (120 guests). Hook a duck. Roulette and poker in the evening for adults. Bacon butties, pizza and veggie burgers in the evening. Large table football.

Off the top of my head!

Raising money for charity. Painted the hall so have it for free. No seating plan, just E shape table layout, with plain white paper tablecloths, flowers in little teapots and plates of cupcakes for guests to help themselves to.

Thanks absent will do! Hope you have a great day, sounds lovely!

Yep, was going to say Ice Cream Van! Ive been to a wedding where they had one in the garden where they held the reception, it went down a storm, they also had a bucking bronco and remote control boats on the lake, the kids still talk about it now.

We had a fire pit in the evening with marshmallows to toast with different sauces, biscuits etc. S'mores I think is the correct name Smile

Some great ideas on here, would have loved a photo booth. Your wedding sounds lovely.

We had a face painter for the kids although adults took advantage of their artistic expertise too.

We had a magician for between the ceremony and wedding breakfast.

For table centre pieces we used large martini glass vases filled with a different sweet for each table - ie flying saucers, fizzy cola bottles. Went down a treat and broke the ice between each table wanting to trade sweets Grin

what matters to you and your soon to be dh?

I am into music and cars, so blew the budget on a live band and a phantom mk 2 car. dh wanted to cut the wedding cake with a sword so we used a piece of military history to cut a cake.

dh loves films so each table was a directors name on a clapper board, and on each name place was a film by that director, got people on tables talking.

Lurking for ideas :)

Bubble machine, summer garden toys bouncy castles etc. You can hire a mobile creche and it will keep kids occupied. Part of the asian custom is to give guests sweets on arrival & after the ceremony. I had a few cousins holding trays of sweets at the entrance to the venue.

Bubble machine is a brilliant idea, so simple! I love the mugshot whiteboard idea too :o

Fire pit could be great. We were planning on a campfire/bonfire, hut much safer and less messy. DP and I both love music so I'm going to ask guests to bring instruments if they would like and hopefully we'll have a bit of a sing song :)
