We're getting married on our own and having a big party with a hog roast/BBQ instead of favours, was thinking of two big buckets of wrapped lucky dips (where people put their hand in to choose a present) is that really lame, will people think wtf?! Grin

There's a reason you never see sugared almonds in the candy/biscuit section. And I agree with others saying that you are providing them with a party, they don't need a present.

If you did feel bad (or made to feel guilty about favours!) put a note up saying instead of favours you're donating to charity

loolooskiptotheloo · 17/03/2013 11:22

Even if we're not Amanda?! Wink

It sounds great Smile

I love sugared almonds. But agree that wedding favours are a little pointless.

Wish we could invite all the lovely mumsnetters and not the troublesome family members Wink

Only if we can bring our DC looloo. The last wedding we went to it was no DC. Well thats a whole different story......

loolooskiptotheloo · 19/03/2013 21:23

You can all bring your DC, plenty of food plus a petting zoo :)

favours never crossed my mind, nor did seating plans and a million other things. church, dress, buffet, cake.

Make DH buy a new suit, tell DH to be his plastic university interview suit will not do.

Take DH to be to M&S and supervise buying of suit.

Make hair decorations when you should be revising for second year uni exams.

My brother passed 3 big tubs of celebrations round after dinner & in between tea & cake. Everyone loved the idea & it was copied by a few friends later on.
