Ironing wedding dress

Aargh, I've got my off the peg lovely dress but its creased and needs ironing. Its a chiffon/polyester dress and I'm scared of ruining it. Anyone know where i can get it done, i'm thinking maybe a dry cleaners, but it doesn't need cleaning?

I think the dry cleaners would steam it for you to remove the creases. Whatever you do, don't iron it yourself... I remember our wedding photographer telling me about another bride she worked with who panic-ironed her dress the morning of the wedding. She spent the rest of the day trying to hide the scorch mark (in the shape of an iron) with her bouquet! Not worth the risk!

Can you hang it in the bathroom whilst you have a hot bath or shower??

After my wedding my parents told me they ironed my dress the night before. I had given them my dress for 'safe keeping' but there was no harm done.

Have you got a steamer? Personally I wouldn't iron.

If you dont have confidence in ironing dont. Im a seamstess and even i get nervous about ironing a wedding dress after i have worked in it. (silly cus i cut then up and sew them back together but ironing is not my thing) If i have to i use a good steam iron with the steam on full and iron water in it. Medium heat and iron it Always with a clean WHITE bed sheet between the iron and dress. Going slow firm with care. But to be honest unless the bride is a big rush or tiny budget I advise getting it steamed.
