Have been invited to evening reception of couple X's wedding.

I normally buy gifts for all weddings I attend, even if I'm only an evening guest.

However the other day I was told that couple X don't buy gifts when they are evening only guests and they didn't buy couple Y a gift when they were evening guests at their wedding last year.

Should I buy couple X a gift? Or just send a card?

They are not close friends at all and it will cost a bit (but not loads) to attend their wedding.

I think you should do what you would normally do, not base it on what you have heard the couple have done at a different wedding.

Why are you accepting the invitation if they are not close friends? If it is going to cost you a bit to attend, and you are not that friendly with them, I just wouldn't go, an invitation doesn't mean you have to accept it. Hmm.

Do what you would normally do.
