Dress Size - I'm too big/it is too small

I found my dream dress at the weekend, but far from my dream price. My wedding is just under 6 months away. I've found a sample that is nominally about 2 sizes too small. Considering I'm planning on losing at least 2 stone before the wedding, having lost 7 already, how do you rate the chances of it fitting? Also, it's button back - do you think getting it converted to a lace back is a workable option should I fail to slim down?

can i ask how you have lost so much weight? i need to lose 7 stone. well done!

also depends on how you have dropped sizes with the weight. i was size 16 over about three stones but after that went up a size with each stone if you see what i mean. with a corset and willpower you should be ok

I think she said a month, but that's because my wedding is in June which is a popular wedding and prom time so she's very busy then.

I basically just typed seamstress into yell.com, took the dress into a couple of shops to get a quote, and went with the cheapest :)

Thanks so much! I've found dress shopping horrific, and the most stressful bit of wedding planning. Having found one I was then worried I was getting a bit unrealistic about sizes; I think if I keep at it and consider seamstresses I'll be good!

Having a zip/button back converted to lace up is very common, because of fluctuating sizes. Shop around, one seamstress quoted £120, the other £20!

I bought my wedding dress just over a year before my wedding and it was 3 sizes to small i lost 3 stone to get into it, fitted like a glove on the day and it was a zip back. I had the option of having a lace up put in, but thankfully didn't have to go down that route. Nothing felt as good as the day my dress did up ooh aside from the marrying my dh that is

I've just put my deposit down eek! But when I was shopping apparently some dresses are built with a couple of inches extra in the seams for easy adjusting. Maybe ask if this one has, I'm not sure exactly how you tell but it might give you a couple of inches. Also think about your shape I've got a waste but that means wider hips and ribs so if a dress is very fitted there it's hard to lose weight off already bony bits.

Sorry no suggestions re dress, but had to say well done after reading. I found Body Pump classes helped me drop about a dress size in 6 weeks...
