Hen do help pls

Need to organise hen for my sister. There will be 12 of us and my instructions are relaxed, non cheesy and no tacky stuff

Spa day? High tea at a posh hotel followed by a spot of croquet? Treasure hunt? Weekend in a cottage by the sea?

I went on one hen do where we made perfume, we rented a cottage, chilled with Champagne and a woman from The Perfume Studio came to us. Then we all went out for a nice dinner in the evening. It was nice, relaxed, and we all brought home our own scents, which were actually quite nice!

Went to one on Saturday - cocktail making in an art gallery, nice dinner, karaoke for an hour and then home! We are all a bit older though.

Was very civilised. We had a mr and mrs style quiz over dinner with a few random gifts.

To make it feel a bit more like a hen do we had a dress code - purple and pearls. Nobody else would have realised though but made us feel more of a group.

Was really good fun.

Loving the cottage idea and making perfume would be lovely! Keep the ideas coming

Mine was quite different, we went to Marrakech for 3 days and had a blast with massages on the roof terrace, mooching around the souks and did a bit of sight seeing. It was also quite cheap (cheaper than one-night hen dos I've been on in the UK!). We all have some lovely mementoes and some right old tat from the markets!

Cottage with HOT TUB

Cocktail making sounds fun! How about a cookery course if you're into food? You can do them in groups where you all eat the meal you've prepared. I learnt to make gnocchi on a hen do!

Jumping, how cheap. Ds wedding is abroad so she wants hen to be affordable as people already paying to go to that

I had 3 , as I did the travelling to friends rather than them travel to me. One was a spa day, one was the 'tacky' night out and one was hiring a narrow boat for the day. Very reasonable cost, very chilled. Everyone brought food and drink for a picnic.

Narrow boat, love that idea. A weekend on one would be good

Morocco was £175 for flights and stay in a cute little riyad in the medina. It was a few years ago but I think it's still inexpensive to do these days. I've spent more on every overnight hen do I've been on in the UK!

We hired a big country cottage near the coast in Devon. Walks, nice food and a wine tasting eve at the cottage.

I once organised a wine tasting party where I chose a load of different wines with interesting descriptions "hints of chocolate" "subtle taste of lychees" etc. then I made a scorecard - handed out a glass of wine, which you then had to match to the description. I also got them to score the wine out of 10...
Made for a good drunken evening! You could do something like that at a cottage?

My hen do was fab - champagne and cupcakes at my gaff in the afternoon (supermarket booze and local cake lady) cocktail making late afternoon (fun and got us hammered), meal in evening which had a cheesy singer at the end providing much needed dancing.

A friends hen was a bit more laid back - walk along coast and picnic, wine tasting at a vineyard, quiet meal in evening.

To be honest the best bit of my day was seeing all my friends having a giggle and enjoy themselves around me. I also loved a quiz they prepared - questions about my OH (they had emailed him to get the answers). Questions ranged from what is his shoe size to why does he want to marry you - his answers to the more soppy questions brought a tear to my eye!
