Keeping kids occupied at wedding...

I am getting married soon and although we have not invited children to our evening reception, children are invited if coming to the ceremony.

I envisage the wedding ceremony will be over quite quickly but welcome ideas to occupy approx 6 under 5's during the photos and meal. I have asked for the venue to set up a seperate table for the meal where the children can sit if they chose and do some colouring but other ideas would be much appreciated.

A wedding I was at put a little gift bag on each of the kids chairs with colouring ins, pack of sweeties, a disposable camera, a little car, a little pocket jigsaw and some stickers.

we went to a wedding where the bride had done a little party bag for each under-5. Colouring book and crayons, little game or toy (check out Ikea or supermarkets for cheapish ones), box of raisins, some stickers, a little book (BookPeople often do 10 for £10). They'll all have something to take home and think you're fab!!

We did gift bags as well, seemed to go down well. Colouring stuff, mask, stickers are always a good bet also.

at my sisters wedding they had a patio at the reception venue that was fenced in and secure, she had arranged for us to bring a trike or scooter for the little ones to play on, meant that we could escape for a breath of air and the kids got to let off steam. They also did the goodie bags of things too, so when DD had burned off some energy she came in and coloured in for a while too.

Give them bubbles when you do the photos - you can get some lovely shots of you both, and of the children.
