Where would you sit the best man's DP and child?

The best man is the groom's twin brother and she doesn't know anybody else apart from the bride and groom and the groom's parents.

On a table with the friendliest people you've got, and possibly with DCs a similar age. I have a lovely aunt who was always good at sweeping up people, and as a teacher was great with children too. Do you have similar?

Remind/encourage the best man to table hop as soon as the speeches are over.

With the friendliest people you've got and preferably with other children and their parents.

Or if you have bridesmaids that won't be on the top table (and who would be nice to her and have something in common!), maybe with them?

You could also try to put her on a table near the top table and in a position where they can see each other (i.e. not with her back to the top table) - if she's finding the meal difficult/boring, a shared smile and a wink with her DP will help :)

I was a bit miffed when I learned that DP wasn't allowed to sit with us and I wanted to see where other people would have sat us. I haven't been to many weddings, but a 4 course meal followed by speeches seemed torturous on my own and I was very worried about not knowing anyone. But in hindsight I was probably being a bit petty. It's her day right and it's up to her if she wants Best Man on the top table.

At least I'll have DS to talk to!

I think that it is more important that everyone enjoys themselves than that conventions are followed.

We had a massive top table (used both sides) so that all our family sat together. My nieces/nephews all sat opposite us. Bridesmaid and best man were each on the table with their partners and closest friends.

Was lovely.

I had all partners of the wedding party at the top table with all of us. It was quite a large table but we aren't too exclusive so didn't mind.

We once went to a wedding with 7 witnesses who were all sat at the top table with their DP's. DH was the only one out of his group of friends not a witness, which didn't matter except we didn't know anyone else at the wedding...

So we were sat at a "randoms" table where hardly anyone knew each other. We had the best time it was great!

(and the top table was actually pretty dull - taking the lead from the bride and groom - I've never seen a couple so unhappy at their own wedding!)

Oh and I travelled abroad to go to a wedding where I only knew the groom and the best man...so again we were sat at a table of unknowns and again had a great time!

At my (tiny) wedding we had 4 couples who didn't know anyone except their spouses...so we had to put them all together. Their table was the loudest and my friend still mentions how much fun she had at that table!
